The Black Student Awareness Committee (BSAC) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham plans to host the 31st Camille Armstrong Memorial Scholarship Step Show on February 24, 2024. The event, which last took place in 2020, will be held at the Alys Stephens Center Jemison Concert Hall. Comedian FunnyMaine will be the emcee.

The show will include National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) step teams from UAB and other colleges, as well as exhibition teams from Alabama. The event will highlight stepping, a rhythmic performance style involving stomping, clapping, and chanting, common in African American fraternities and sororities. The show usually draws an audience of over 1200 people.

The step show honors Camille Armstrong and provides scholarships for students interested in law. Vivica Parker, the coordinator of Social Justice Programs and advisor of BSAC, stated the committee’s pride in continuing Armstrong’s legacy through the event. The show’s proceeds will go towards scholarships for African American political science undergraduates at UAB.
