Federal Judge says Allen County Jail has “seen its day,” urges leaders to come up with funding

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A federal judge heard updates Tuesday in Fort Wayne about the fight over funding for a new Allen County Jail. The judge says the conditions at the current jail are “unconstitutional” and the building itself “has seen its day.” The court has ordered county leaders to come up with a plan to address the situation. The Allen County Commission put forward a plan to build a new jail on land purchased on Meyer Road. The commission is waiting for the Allen County Council to approve the funding.
