BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A drunk driver was given prison time for causing a crash that seriously injured another man in Newstead in 2022, the Erie County District Attorney’s office said Tuesday.
51-year-old Mark Printup, of Cambria, was given 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 years in prison for causing the crash on Aug. 13, 2022. Printup was under the influence of alcohol when he drove through a stop sign at Utley Road and Hunts Corners Road, causing a crash with a vehicle that had the right of way.
The driver, a 22-year-old man from North Tonawanda, was flown to ECMC, where he was hospitalized for several weeks and underwent several surgeries for various serious injuries. He continues to receive long-term treatment.
In December, Printup pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree vehicular assault.
As part of the sentence, Printup was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and had his driver’s license revoked.
