Man shot, killed outside Kansas City apartment complex: police

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person has died Tuesday night after a shooting outside an apartment complex, police say.

The deadly shooting happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment complex near The Paseo and Meyer Boulevard.

Police found a man unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds in the apartment complex’s parking lot. First responders later pronounced him dead.

Police have not released the name of the victim at this time.

While officers were on scene, another man left a nearby apartment and was identified as a potential suspect. Police took him into custody.

Detectives believe the victim and suspect knew each other and got into an argument before the shooting.

This is the tenth homicide of the year in Kansas City. At this point last year, Kansas City’s deadliest year ever, the city had already recorded 17 homicides.
