During the year there will be fishing trips for the entire family, and all for free. Highland Gardens United Neighborhood Association, President, and Vice President will have signup forms at the community youth tryouts and cookout, February 24th, for parents, family, and residents, that are interested in going. The neighborhood association will be providing resident attending a free cane pole if needed, and free bait as well. Residents can bring their own fishing gear within reason due to limited space.
Even though fishing in February is not a bad idea, the fishing trips will begin in March or after the bass have finished bedding. After they finish bedding they will be hungry, because during the bedding the bass will just grab to move away to protect the eggs, and they rarely eat during this process. It is best in order to save and help the population grow that we do not fish while they are laying eggs to protect, and not hurt the growth population. The neighborhood association is looking forward to family fun, and seeing who will have the ‘catch of the day.’
