OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — Family, friends, and staff at Center Hill High School in Olive Branch are mourning the loss of one of their own after a 19-year-old was killed in a car accident in eastern Mississippi over the weekend.
Icy roads cause wrecks, traffic delays
Barrett Dempsey was well-known and loved in the Center Hill High School community.
“Barrett was just, he was the goofy kid that made friends with everybody. That was smart, funny, he could make friends with anybody he came across,” said Douglas Miller, his former wrestling coach.
Coach Miller said he will be remembered not just for his funny, goofy personality, but for the amazing person he was.

“He had this aura about him that whenever he walked in a room. It didn’t matter what somebody was going through, it didn’t matter when he walked in the room, it was different. He had a capability of being able to bring a smile to just about anyone,” he said.
According to Lost Gap Fire and Rescue in eastern Mississippi, crews were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on I-59 at around 11 p.m. Sunday.
