Menomonee Falls High School cheerleading team wins 2024 national championship

Another Milwaukee area team will bring home a national championship from a national cheerleading competition in Florida.

Menomonee Falls High School’s varsity cheerleading team won their title in the Small Varsity Coed Division II Game Day category of the Universal Cheerleaders Association National High School Cheerleading Championships. The school was first out of nine teams that reached the finals of that category.

The game day routine involves a three minute routine with different sections and “rallying” in which the team “continues to spirit and hype up the crowd” in between each section so all three minutes are nonstop. The goal is to simulate what a team would perform on the sidelines during a game, according to an email from one of the team’s coaches, Emilie Goldbach. She said this year was also the team’s first year competing in that division and it’s the school’s first national championship.

“We have seven athletes new to the team this year and one brand new to cheer in general so we are so proud of this amazing accomplishment,” Goldbach said in her email.
