Local nonprofit hires new CEO from Houston

TULSA, Okla. — Housing Solutions, a Tulsa nonprofit that leads federally funded programs and services to address homelessness, has announced the hiring of a new CEO.

Mark Smith, 34,  will be moving to Tulsa from Houston in March to take over the organization that oversees “A Way Home for Tulsa”, a multi-agency strategy to tackle homelessness.

Smith was selected from three finalists after a national search by the board of directors.

He said his biggest challenge in taking on this new role will be addressing the lack of affordable housing in Tulsa.

His first day on the job will be April 1.

He is taking over for Becky Gligo who helped create and run Housing Solutions for the last three years. She is moving out of state for other opportunities and will be assisting with the transition.

Smith signed a multi-year contract with Housing Solutions.

He has been working as the Director of Strategic Planning for the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston and the rest of Harris County.

He oversees the overall strategy and daily activities of The Way Home Continuum of Care, which is similar to A Way Home for Tulsa.
