ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – An off-duty officer was struck by gunfire in north St. Louis overnight, according to authorities. Police say around 3 a.m. an off-duty officer was inside a business on N. Broadway, along with another officer and a third person. The officer left the building to investigate car break-ins, and when he opened the door, a group of three individuals fired shots at him. The officer was shot in the face and grazed in the back, he is currently listed as conscious and breathing. The officer returned fire; however, the suspects were able to get away.
