A Norfolk, Virginia jury has found Quran A. Chatman, 28, guilty of several charges. These include burglary, vehicle theft, evading police, and causing a crash in 2022. On March 13, 2022, Chatman broke into a car dealership on East Little Creek Road. He stole a yellow Chevrolet Camaro convertible and left the premises by damaging a fence.

The dealership’s security system notified the owner, who then contacted the police. Norfolk Police were alerted to look for the stolen convertible. An officer identified Chatman in the vehicle and tried to stop him. Chatman, however, accelerated, leading to a high-speed chase. The chase was eventually halted due to safety concerns.

Chatman later lost control of the vehicle and crashed at another car dealership. The crash resulted in the convertible overturning and Chatman being thrown from the vehicle. He was unconscious when officers detained him at the scene. There were no other reported injuries.

After two hours of discussion, the jury convicted Chatman of burglary, possession of burglary tools, grand larceny of an automobile, misdemeanor property destruction, and felony evasion of police. His sentencing is set for April 26, 2024, before Judge Everett A. Martin Jr.
