Tampa man wins $1M from Publix scratch-off ticket

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Tampa man is spending his Valentine’s Day loving his odds after claiming a $1 million prize from a scratch-off ticket he bought at a St. Petersburg Publix.

The Florida Lottery said Abdallah Adlouni purchased his winning 500X THE CASH scratch-off ticket at a Publix, located at 3700 4th Street North in St. Petersburg. That retailer will get $2,000 for selling the ticket.

Adlouni chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.

The $50 scratch-off game has a top prize of $25 million, the largest jackpot on a Florida scratch-off game.

Since its inception, scratch-off games have generated more than $59.5 billion in prizes and have created nearly 2,000 millionaires in the state of Florida. Over $18.39 billion has additionally gone to Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
