(KRON) — The skeletal remains of a body found 29 years ago have been identified as a Vallejo woman, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department announced.
Previously a Jane Doe, the woman’s body was found in a creek bed off Pine Flat Road near Healdsburg on Aug. 9, 1993. The sheriff’s office was able to identify her as Robin Fay Hedrick, a Vallejo resident, who was last seen alive in February 1992.
Little else is known about Hedrick except that she was born in 1953.
Due to the degree of decomposition of Hedrick’s body, her identity remained a mystery. Until, in 2022, the Coroner’s Bureau submitted her DNA to the DNA Doe Project and got a match, which led them to Hedrick’s son, ultimately leading them to identify Hedrick.
