Hanahan surprises dancing construction worker with new car

HANAHAN, S.C. (WCBD) – Sitting in heavy traffic during road construction can often be a drag, but one man has been making the most of it with his joyous dancing on Foster Creek Road.

The City of Hanahan said Joshua, a temp worker directing traffic amid roadway construction, has been entertaining drivers while dancing, smiling, and waving during their commute for days at a time.

Hanahan Mayor Christie Rainwater recently thanked Joshua for making a difference in the Berkeley County community and invited him to be recognized during a City Council meeting held Tuesday night.

According to the city, Mayor Rainwater learned about some of the hardships he faced, including lack of transportation, which he says can be a problem when looking for solid employment.

Mayor Rainwater and Hanahan City Council wanted to do something great to thank him for his great spirit. So, they called on Hanahan resident Tony Rodriguez, the general manager of Summerville Ford, who immediately wanted to help.

Joshua was surprised during Tuesday night’s city council meeting with the keys to a new vehicle.
