Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is one of the best and most popular players in all of college football, but he recently caught some flack from former Colorado running back Kavosiey Smoke.
The two were teammates for just one season in Boulder, and despite Smoke being heralded as one of their top transfer additions, he had a minimal impact. As a whole, the team finished the season 4-8 despite their 3-0 start, which Smoke had been quite vocal about after the year, citing selfishness in the locker room as the reason for their issues.
On a recent podcast appearance on Cam Newton’s 4th & 1 podcast, Sanders revealed that he felt there weren’t enough “dogs” on the team. An issue that he feels they resolved this offseason.
“By having the right players,” Sanders said when commenting on how they will improve. “We only lost a lot of games last year because we have enough dogs on the team. You understand I’m not even a player to be talking crazy or anything like that. Now, when you got some guys on the team that can’t stick up for themselves or you got guys on a team where that’s not in them, you’ve got to become that because they’re going to follow the leader. Not really caring, whatever it is, they’re gonna go do it.”
