HANFORD, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man has been arrested following a pursuit after he was allegedly brandishing an arm while making verbal threats to a victim, the Hanford Police Department said.
Officers say they responded to a report of a brandishing of a firearm near Brown and 11th Streets on Monday at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Police say the victim stated that while walking in the vicinity of Brown Street and 11th Street, 27-year-old Bailey Heffley, who is currently on parole, approached him in a vehicle, while agitated over a recent issue. The victim reported that Bailey pointed a firearm at him and made verbal threats. After the incident, the victim called 911.
Officers say they successfully located Bailey while he was driving the vehicle involved in the incident. However, despite attempting a traffic stop, Bailey failed to pull over, leading officers on a vehicle pursuit.
According to police, the pursuit ended when Bailey failed to negotiate an eastbound turn onto Houston Avenue from southbound 10th Avenue, causing his vehicle to veer into a nearby field and come to a stop. Bailey exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood. The pursuing officers successfully apprehended him after a foot chase.
