‘Serial shoplifter’ sentenced to multiple years in prison

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man described as a “serial shoplifter” was sentenced to serve time in prison after a series of shoplifting incidents that occurred over five months, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Justin K. White, 38, was sentenced to serve 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison Wednesday.

From November 2022 to March 2023, authorities said White stole merchandise from four stores in six separate incidents. Four of the incidents took place at stores where White has a “no trespass” notice from prior shoplifting incidents, according to authorities.

On Nov. 26, 2022, White unlawfully entered a store on Niagara Fall Boulevard in the Town of Amherst and exited the store without paying for $1,536.99 worth of merchandise, authorities said. He was previously banned from entering the store after an incident in March 2020.

Two days later, he entered the same store and exited with merchandise valued at $1,099 without paying. Authorities said a loss prevention employee confronted White in the parking lot, but White fled from the scene.
