Kentucky was at full strength for the first time all season against Ole Miss, but it didn’t last long.
Ole Miss was in town to take on the Kentucky Wildcats , who were looking to snap a three-game losing streak in Rupp Arena. Kentucky was able to snap the streak, taking down Ole Miss 75-63 behind a balanced offensive attack. The Wildcats had four players score in double-figures, but no one went off. This is what makes Kentucky such a dangerous basketball team.
Tre Mitchell returned from his two-game absence with a back injury against Ole Miss but was only able to play 21 minutes before having to leave with a shoulder injury. After picking up his third foul, Mitchell went to the bench, grabbing his shoulder. He was on the bench for less than a minute before heading back to the locker room and never made his way back out.
Coach John Calipari had this to say about Mitchell’s injury post-game: “Went to get x-rays, I don’t know.”
While Coach Calipari clearly doesn’t know much yet, it is alarming to hear that Mitchell is going for X-rays. Watching him go to the bench, he was in a ton of pain, so it will be interesting to hear a timeline on Mitchell the next time we hear from Coach Calipari.
