Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP) data shows four residents have filed paperwork to begin fundraising for the Richmond mayor’s race in November. They are seeking to fill the position being vacated by Mayor Levar Stoney, who is term-limited.
Here’s a look at the four people who have announced their candidacy so far. Other candidates are expected to make formal announcements next month for the new mayoral term that starts in January 2025.
Chris Hilbert
Chris Hilbert is an Independent. He was the Third District councilman from 2005 to 2021. He worked for the Virginia Housing Development Authority and in banking for nearly 20 years.
Data from the VPAP which tracks campaign fund totals, shows that Hilbert’s cash on hand is $30,518, and he has raised $31,464 in donations.
Michelle Mosby
Michelle Mosby, 54, also an Independent candidate, filed her paperwork in August 2023 and has been campaigning at various meetings and other events.
In 2012, she was elected Ninth District councilwoman. She ran for mayor in 2016 against six candidates, with Stoney getting 36% of the vote.
