Overnight fire damages Ankeny Popeyes restaurant

ANKENY, Iowa — An early morning fire caused damage to the Popeyes Chicken in Ankeny.

A commercial fire alarm came in around 1:00 a.m. for the restaurant at 3155 N. Ankeny Blvd. Officers with the Ankeny Police Department were first on the scene and saw smoke coming from the roof and found the building filled with smoke.

When the Ankeny Fire Department arrived just a few minutes later they found a fire in the kitchen area. Firefighters were able to put out the flames quickly and ventilate the restaurant.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
