Man wanted in multiple states for car break-ins arrested in North Carolina

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WGHP) — A man who is wanted in multiple states for car break-ins has been arrested in North Carolina, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

47-year-old Lemone Octaviu Slaughter has been arrested and is being charged with several crimes related to car break-ins at popular trailhead parking lots in North Carolina.

Investigators say that Slaughter had driver’s licenses from both the state of Florida and Georgia, several financial instruments with “different variations of his name on them,” and three cell phones in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Deputies say that Slaughter is wanted for similar crimes in “at least three other states.”

The first break-in took place at Hollow Rock Nature Park in Durham on Feb. 4, according to the sheriff’s office. Slaughter allegedly stole a tote bag, wallet, several financial instruments and identification documents within minutes of the victim parking their car and entering the trail.
