Alaskan Ski Resort Currently Has The Most Snow In North America

Alyeska Resort , Girdwood, AK, just passed 500 inches of snow on the season, and they claim they are the resort with the most snowfall in North America.

Four years ago, Cody Townsend and his wife Elyse Saugstad went skiing with the Alyeska Freeride Team, and this footage gives you an idea of some of the terrain on tap at this resort.

The resort had a party on February 13th to celebrate this monumental occasion. Today officials at Alyeska wrote, “after our 500” party yesterday, things got pretty turbulent on the upper mountain.”

Now, their Valentine’s Day Mountain Report (posted today) reads, “You heard the whispers and it’s true. Most snowfall in North America.”

Alyeska has 517 inches of snow this season, to be exact, and they received 6 new inches at the top of GBX in the last 24 hours. Their base depth at the top is 109 inches, mid-mountain is 99, and at the base is 46.

“With Glacier Bowl Express & the Tram closing early yesterday, the snow has been stacking up at the top of the mountain. Get ready for a classic Alyeska day with 6″ of heavy snow on the upper mountain & 4″ at mid-mountain.”
