A Facebook post about Dave & Buster’s coming to Governor’s Square Mall sparked excitement in Tallahassee, but reality quickly extinguished the fans’ flicker of hope.
The national chain isn’t coming to the capital city. There’s another Governor Square Mall in Clarksville, Tennessee. Tallahassee residents, hopeful for the arcade/sports bar and restaurant, swamped the mall’s announcement post when they realized it was a different mall and chimed in with their disappointment.
But, the social media reaction to the mistaken mall identity begs the question: Could Tallahassee ever become one of the more than 140 cities to have a Dave & Buster’s?
Not now, some commercial real estate experts say, but there have been attempts to snag interest.
John McNeil, a principal and commercial real estate broker at NAI TALCOR, said he’s represented a property owner in town who made a pitch to Dave & Buster’s.
“They prefer to own their real estate is what I was told,” McNeil said. “So, that was not an opportunity that I had.”
