Patient donates handmade quilt to show appreciation to Mission Hospital

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A patient at Mission Hospital showed her appreciation Wednesday by donating a handmade 80-inch quilt to the hospital’s.

Made by Susan Yaskin of Barnardsville, the quilt, called “A Grateful Heart” is framed in the lobby of Mission Hospital’s Heart Tower.

The quilt features a large heart on a white background, with a red border around the edges of the fabric.

During a dedication for the quilt, Yaskin said she made it to show her appreciation for the cardiac staff at Mission Hospital for their work in caring for herself and her husband.

Some of the people in attendance for the dedication were on the cardiac team, the hospital said.

The Grateful Heart Quilt is donated today to Mission Hospital Heart Tower as an expression of our gratitude for the exceptional care both my husband and I have received,” said Yasking.

February is National Heart Month making the celebration extra special for the Mission team.  The hospital hopes the quilt will inspire patients, visitors and staff on a daily basis.
