Pedestrian hit, killed in South Bay

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX5/KUSI) — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Chula Vista Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Chula Vista police told FOX 5 the incident took place around before 5:30 a.m. in the 600 Block of L St., just east of Riverlawn Avenue.

Authorities found a 34-year-old man, of Chula Vista, under a utility truck with major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 32-year-old Chula Vista man, remained at the scene and was cooperative with authorities, police said.

L Street was closed between Broadway and Jefferson for several hours for an investigation.

Police do not believe driving under the influence was a factor in the collision.
