PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WRBL) — A supply shop in Russell County is giving free garden kits to local kids later this month.
On Feb. 24, locals are invited to Phenix City Tractor Supply to pick up a “TSC Future Gardeners Kit” while supplies last. In the kit, kids will find essentials like seed packs, topsoil, a bucket and care directions.
“At Tractor Supply, we strive to educate and inspire underserved communities and the next generation about all things Out Here,” said Phenix City Store Manager Amanda Ruof.
Patrons can visit the curbside pickup area from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to pick up their kit.
The hope is these kits will “plant seeds” for local children to grow produce.
“The unfortunate reality is that many young people lack access to fresh produce, let alone an opportunity to see how it grows,” said Ruof. “With these kits, we can share our knowledge and provide a fun opportunity to discover the thrill of growing fruits and vegetables.”
Team members will be onsite to help answer questions and offer further explanation.
