Man arrested after trying to steal car keys from driver at Kwik Trip

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police say they arrested a man who allegedly tried to steal the car keys of someone who had just pulled into a near east side Kwik Trip Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the location on N. Third St. just after 2 p.m. Tuesday after a man said a stranger approached him after he pulled into the store’s parking lot and demanded he hand over his car keys.

Police say a struggle for the keys followed before the driver was able to break free from the 23-year-old man and run into the store.
