WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — A pair took off with an 8-week-old Pomeranian puppy after a Winter Haven teen showed them her dog.
The Winter Haven Police Department said a 15-year-old girl was walking along 6th Street Southeast and carrying her 8-week-old puppy when a dark-colored SUV pulled up next to her.
“This lady pulled up next to me. She asks if she can see my dog and won’t stop following me through the parking lot. So I lift up my dog for her to see her, not for her to touch her and she snatches my dog,” the 15-year old girl told News Channel 8.
The driver then handed the puppy over to a man in the passenger seat and took off toward Cypress Gardens Boulevard.
“I reached into the car and grabbed the steering wheel trying to maneuver myself in to a way that I could stay with the car but she was going so fast I had to let go,” said the girl.
Police said the driver was a woman with acne scarring on her face and was wearing a flower dress.
The puppy was wearing a pink collar with a red bell.
