Hard Rock grants $5K to help children in the Winnebago County court system

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Hard Rock Casino has given a $5,000 grant to a Winnebago County organization that represents children in court.

The Hard Rock Heals Foundation gave the grant to the Winnebago County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program Wednesday morning.

CASA says it will use the funding to recruit and train new volunteers, which it says are badly needed.

CASA currently has 100 volunteer advocates representing 350 children in Juvenile Abuse and Neglect court.

The program’s executive director, James Hutson, explained, “The need, a little over 800 children need a CASA and they’re not getting it. So, we need to multiply in size. So, days like this and partners such as Hard Rock Casino really help us get out to meet more people and bring in more money and serve more children.”

Winnebago County CASA was one of 50 nonprofits around the world to receive the funding this year from the Hard Rock Heals Foundation.
