WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The ongoing nursing shortage has impacted hospitals across the country for years now, including at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Just two years ago, the hospital reported to WECT a 32% employee turnover rate. Administrators first reduced the amount of traveling nurses, then went on a hiring spree. Now, they’re trying another way to keep nurses in town with the Upward Mobility Registered Nurse Educational Assistance Program.
