February can still be cold and snowy but when it comes to the sun angle, there is a lot of improvement. The sun angle in February is higher in the sky and the sunsets are later giving longer days. With a high sun angle, this allows for higher UV radiation and more daytime heating which will help when it comes to melting any snow or ice.

In a typical February in western Massachusetts, the average high temperature is 38 degrees and the average low is 19 degrees. February can also be a snowy month with an average of 12.9 inches of snow. The month of February can also have extremes with a record high temperature of 74 degrees set on February 21, 2018, and a record low temperature of -20 which was set on February 8, 1967.
