LCSO welcomes new drug detection dog to force

EUGENE, Ore. – The Lane County Sheriff’s Office has a new canine companion to help sniff out dangerous drugs and other illicit substances. “Bear” is a 2-year-old German Shepherd who is trained and certified to detect dangerous drugs like fentanyl. He and his handler at LCSO will help deputies on patrol as well as shipping companies and the Eugene Airport. They are also partnering with Lane County schools to maintain safe campuses and with the Lane County Jail to keep drugs out.
