Love was in the air at the Akron Civic Theatre Wednesday as five couples tied the knot on the day of love.
Akron Judge Ron Cable performed the Valentine’s Day ceremonies for the couples that included Jacques Nyengela and Lydie Nyemanzi, Patricia Ferrell and Richard Burns and Nathan Thomas and Chaimae Hadiq.
Candy and a heart-shaped cookie cutter were gifted to the newlyweds.
Eclipse of the heart
One lucky couple will get a wedding to remember on April 8, the day of the solar eclipse, when the region goes black.
Akron Municipal Court and the Cascade Locks Park Association will host a 1 p.m. wedding at Mustill Store Museum at 57 W. North St. in Akron that will be followed by an eclipse party that lasts through the short time of darkness until 4 p.m.
To enter this contest, the winning couple must write an essay of no more than 248 words explaining why they want to get married on eclipse day.
The deadline to submit an entry is March 5. The chosen couple will be notified by March 15. The wedding contest is open to all legal residents of the United States. There is no entry fee.
