Pompano Beach Woman Arrested for First-Degree Murder in Neighbor’s Death

The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) has arrested 39-year-old Patrice George on charges of first-degree murder following the fatal shooting of her neighbor, Derrick Givings, in Pompano Beach.

The incident, which occurred on February 13, 2024, around 12:48 p.m., has prompted a detailed investigation by BSO Homicide detectives.

What Happened?

Responding to a ShotSpotter alert near Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest Seventh Street, deputies found Givings with gunshot wounds in front of his residence at 2695 N.W. Seventh Street.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue quickly transported him to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced deceased, as detailed in the official BSO news release.

The investigation led to George, who resides at the same address. Preliminary findings indicated George was responsible for the shooting.

“When deputies arrived, they found shooting victim Derrick Givings in front of the residence located at 2695 N.W. Seventh St.,” the BSO news release said.

“Pompano Beach Fire Rescue immediately transported Givings to Broward Health North.
