Walmart announces store closures that will take place this week

Walmart has announced the closure of more branches . Last year, the chain store closed 20 branches across 11 states in the United States and more are set to follow suit this month.

The global giant employs over 1.6 million people in America and there are 4’622 branches in the country. However, despite the brand’s popularity, some stores do not perform as expected and the decision is subsequently made to close them down permanently.

Two stores, both in San Diego County, California , were closed at the beginning of the month when the lease on their buildings was not renewed. They are based in Fletcher Parkway in the city of El Cajon and on Imperial Avenue in San Diego’s Sherman Heights.

Both premises’ closed on February 9 because, according to Walmart, they did not meet financial expectations. Employees at these stores will be eligible to work at nearby branches after the closure of their workplaces.
