How Are Bodies Being Recovered At Lady Bird Lake And The Police Think It’s Nothing?

They believe they’re all accidental drownings, but locals think it’s something more sinister.

According to news outlets, the first body to be recovered in mid-February 2023 was that of Jason John (30). The young man was allegedly last seen by a “transient bystander” stumbling near the lake before falling in.

Though the incident was reported straight away, it took the police eight days to recover the body. He was ruled as accidental drowning due to excessive drinking. However, barely a month later, two bodies were also recovered.

The first one was that of Clifton Axtell (40). The married father of two went missing around 5 pm on February 25th, near Stubb’s Bar-B-Q restaurant in downtown Austin.

He was later found dead at the lake a week later, and the medical examiner ruled his death undetermined due to no signs of foul play.

Nevertheless, barely four weeks later, Jonathan Honey (33) was also found. According to witnesses, he was last seen at a Taco truck on Rainey Street at 2 am on March 31st. He, too, was later found dead at the lake.
