Amtrak train strikes, kills man in North Hollywood

A man was killed after being hit by a train in North Hollywood early Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the call regarding the fatal collision came out at 12:04 p.m. on the railroad tracks off Lankershim Boulevard near Sherman Way.

The victim has only been identified as a man in his 20s.

In a post to X, formerly Twitter , Metrolink confirmed that the tracks are closed between Burbank Airport-South and Van Nuys due to Amtrak 769 striking a person on the tracks.

The Pacific Surfliner was traveling westbound when it struck the man, according to KTLA 5’s Rich Prickett. No passengers onboard were injured.

“There is no indication as to why the person was walking along the tracks at the time they were struck by the train,” Prickett said.
