The president of Alliant Energy’s Iowa business is retiring, and the Wisconsin company is replacing him with a one- time intern who worked her way up the utility’s ranks.
Terry Kouba is retiring as president of Interstate Power & Light, effective May 1, after 42 years with Alliant Energy . Mayuri “May” Farlinger , who joined Alliant in 2004 as an intern, has been appointed to succeed him, Alliant said Wednesday.
Farlinger, now Alliant’s vice president of customer and community engagement in Iowa, also will be vice president of Alliant Energy operations.
Alliant Executive Chairman John Larsen said Kouba brought passion and commitment to his work with Iowa customers and communities. “His empowering leadership style, experience and focus on operational excellence has served our customers well,” Larsen said in a statement.
Alliant CEO Lisa Barton called Farlinger, 41, an “outstanding leader.”
“Throughout her tenure, May has brought a solution-oriented approach that will serve her well as she leads the company to its next chapter of growth,” Barton said in a statement.
