Wichitans help tackle shooting suspect and secure weapon at Chiefs celebration

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Video from the scene shows several Chiefs fans tackling who they believed to be one of the shooters in Kansas City on Wednesday.

The shooting after the Chiefs rally and parade sent fans scrambling for cover and left 21 people wounded and one woman dead. Radio station KKFI said via Facebook that Lisa Lopez-Galvan, host of “Taste of Tejano,” was killed.

Two Chiefs fans from Wichita, Trey and Casey Filter, helped take down the man with a gun suspected in the shooting and move the weapon. They talked to NewsNation on Wednesday night.

“On the way home, we’re realizing how close we actually came to being involved in the initial shooting, and of course, we couldn’t have gotten much closer to the gun there. So, it is really a lot to process and be grateful for,” Trey said.

“That was my first thought when I saw it (gun) on the ground in front of me,” Casey said. “I didn’t just expect to have, it was at my feet, and I just saw it, and I just moved it.”
