Ambulance erupts in flames in East County

LA MESA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — An ambulance caught on fire Wednesday in La Mesa, authorities said.

The vehicle fire occurred around 4:39 p.m. at 5495 Grossmont Center Drive, Heartland Fire & Rescue confirmed to FOX 5.

The ambulance was carrying three people, two paramedics and one patient, according to firefighters. All of the people in the emergency vehicle were able to get out safely without any injuries.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire at this time.
