CLAYTON, California – The city of Clayton has announced new infrastructure and green initiatives that will modernize the city and strengthen its budget through its Comprehensive Infrastructure Renewal and General Fund Savings Program.
Clayton will be modernizing everything from lighting to HVAC to solar throughout the city and anticipates that the changes will save a lot of money for a city that’s struggling financially. The initiatives will also reduce maintenance and operational needs as well as energy consumption.
According to the press release, “The improvements target core areas of Clayton’s infrastructure needs: lighting, water, HVAC and Building Automation Systems (BAS), electric vehicle charging and solar.”
Funding will come from a 1% $1.9 million loan from the California Energy Commission through the Energy Conservation Assistance Act. Some funding is also coming from less than $150,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars.
Council Member Jeff Wan says Clayton will benefit from the savings, “With the constant rise in energy costs, the City of Clayton needed to identify new strategies to save funds so that we may continue to invest in our great community.”
