DENVER (KDVR) — Couples flocked to Loveland Ski Area on Wednesday to tie the knot at 11,215 feet at the 33rd annual Mountaintop Matrimony mass ceremony.
In all, 115 couples said “I do,” with 15 of those exchanging vows for the first time and 100 renewing their vows. After the ceremony, the newlyweds skid and rode down the mountain to gather for an afterparty.
There was a best-dressed couple competition. The grand prize for the winning couple was a romantic honeymoon getaway at the Clear Creek Inn and dinner at Cooper’s on the Creek in Georgetown.
In 2023, 12 couples got married and 63 renewed their vows during the mass ceremony.
Wednesday was, of course, Valentine’s Day, a holiday the city of Loveland embraces.
Each year, “Sweetheart City” receives tens of thousands of Valentine’s Day cards from people hoping to get a special inscription on their card along with the Loveland postmark. The tradition has gone on for nearly 80 years.
