HONOLULU (KHON2) — As the story of 10-year-old Geanna Bradley comes to light, dozens of community members rallied their efforts to the foot of the capitol to walk in her name.
The walk and rally at the State Capitol was in honor of Geanna, but done also in the name of advocacy for all foster children.
At least two dozen people joined in the walk in hopes to bring awareness to the foster care system in Hawaii.
Walk organizers Davon and Travon Woods grew up in the foster system and have made it their mission to raise awareness.
“It’s like a lot of kids all around the world are going through abuse so now we want people all around the world to take this very serious because these are kids, these are babies that can’t protect themselves,” said Davon Woods, Walk A Mile In My Shoes organizer.
Woods added he and his brother quit their jobs to travel across the country for the cause. They hope to be the voice for the voiceless.
Geanna Bradley’s biological father Gerime Bradley also spoke on his thoughts of the situation.
