MADISON, Wis. — A random tip about a suspicious pilot at an airport in Arizona led to two Dane County men being charged with possessing 46 pounds of fentanyl and 17.5 pounds of a fentanyl and methamphetamine mixture.
Corvalis Stewart, 36, Madison, and Larry Williamson Jr., 35, Waunakee, are facing possessing for distribution charges in federal court. They both face a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, with a maximum penalty of life in prison.
According to the criminal complaint released by the Department of Justice, a Milwaukee duty agent received a tip from the Air and Marine Operations Center in Riverside, California. A tipster stated they spoke with a pilot and their passenger at a airport in Arizona. The tipster found its suspicious the pilot said he was getting “stick hours” so far from home. He was also suspicious that the pilot was caught in a weather system because he apparently didn’t check the weather radar along his flight path. He also noticed a large duffle bag that was kept covered.
