CUNY schools will give time off for 4 new holidays starting in 2025

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Students attending the City University of New York (CUNY) will soon have four new holidays off starting in 2025. After a vote by the CUNY board of trustees, Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez announced Wednesday that the college system will become one of the first universities in the country to designate Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Lunar New Year and Diwali as holidays on the official school calendar. It will also align with New York City public schools for the first time.
