NEW BEDFORD – Inspired by his late mother’s love of cooking, José Artur Cabral has developed a knack for finding that secret ingredient that really makes a recipe pop.
“I love to innovate and experiment with ingredients,” said the Azorean chef and proprietor of New Bedford’s Restaurante Algarve.
It’s a passion that has led him to create a ton of signature dishes, some of which he reveals their recipes in his debut cookbook titled ‘The Art of Cooking With Love.’
“This is a dream that needed to be fulfilled. The idea for this book was born many years ago,” noted Cabral during the book’s launching ceremony on Feb. 9 at the Casa dos Açores da Nova Inglaterra in Fall River.
With vibrant and colorful photos of his enticing dishes, the former culinary arts instructor not only shows readers how he cooks but how they can hone that instinct for themselves in their everyday cooking.
Over 329 pages, he shares 500 dishes that helped put him on the culinary map. Among them are classic Portuguese dishes with his own twist as well as original and artful entrees and desserts ready to whet your appetite.
