POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A now-former employee with the Florida Department of Children and Families was arrested on two child neglect charges last week, according to an affidavit.
On Feb. 9, deputies responded to an Alturas home in regards to possible child neglect, at the request of DCF.
Tawnya White, 43, a former DCF worker of 13 years was approached by officials outside of the home, the affidavit said.

Officials described the outside of the home as having overgrown grass and trash scattered across the lawn. Inside the home, officials found moldy furniture, stagnant water, multiple knives and trash all over the floor, piles of dog poop, and a pungent smell of dog urine throughout the home.
A 7-month-old and a 7-year-old lived at the home, along with five dogs, with four of those dogs kept inside the home.
