WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – After Thursday’s bout with rain and wind, our next weather system will move through Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia Friday night and linger into Saturday.
A weak clipper system will roll through the area Friday night. Temperatures across the board will be conducive for snow formation as our winds will have a northerly direction to them.
Snow showers will start to move in towards the evening hours of Friday. Roadways could become slick during this timeframe.
Pockets of .5″/hour snowfall rates are possible for area along Tyler, Wetzel, Monroe, and Noble County due to a favorable snow-making environment.
The threat for accumulating snow will start to wrap by Saturday morning. However, a few lingering lake effect snow showers are possible through Saturday afternoon.
How much snow?
The bulk of the snow activity will feature a very dry snow to liquid ratio (SLR) around 15:1.
There is good agreement the highest snow totals will fall within Northern West Virginia, but our region will experience a general inch up to two perhaps on hilltops and higher terrain areas.
