ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man is taking a plea deal related to a 2023 murder. Last February, the Albuquerque Police Department responded to reports of a body found on Candelaria near I-25 . Police determined the man had been shot from behind and crawled into the street before being hit by a car. Police arrested Casper Rickords and Melvin Robinson a day later.

Police said the two admitted they were involved in a separate murder that happened a few months prior. Robinson agreed to plea no contest to second-degree murder in both of those cases among other charges. Under the agreement, Robinson is facing between 30 and 40 years in prison. Court documents show Rickords has a court appearance with a trial expected to start in April.
