Woman arrested on suspicion of DUI in Valentine’s Day crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a pickup ran a red light and collided with three vehicles on Valentine’s Day at the intersection of California and Chester avenues.

Joanna Bojorquez-Higuera was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and a drug causing injury, reckless driving, resisting arrest, failing to stop at a red light, driving on a suspended or revoked license and driving without insurance.

She’s due in court Friday afternoon for arraignment. According to court records, she has two prior drunken driving convictions, one in 2015 and the other in 2017.

The crash happened just after 10:30 a.m. One person was hospitalized with moderate injuries, police said.
