1 charged in road rage shooting at busy intersection

NORTH OLMSTED , Ohio (WJW) — A 22-year-old man is accused of shooting a motorist’s car after an altercation at a gas station, according to police.

Elijah A. Otero, 22, of North Olmsted, is charged with felonious assault in the apparent road rage shooting , which happened just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, according to a news release from North Olmsted police.

A 911 caller told authorities the victim and another man were fighting at a gas station near the intersection of Lorain and Brookpark roads.

The victim told police the fight started after a man — believed to be Otero’s brother — made obscene gestures at him. Both vehicles left the gas station westbound on Lorain Road, according to the news release.

That’s when a North Olmsted police officer heard yelling and two gunshots in the area, which is right across from the police department.
